Over 1,300 new UK stores sold video games in 2015

According to preeminent industry mag MCV, the number of physical stores selling video games jumped up significantly in 2015.

The data supplied via GfK and retail trade body ERA states that a whopping 6,609 stores sold games in the UK last year, which was a rise of 1,337 over 2014.

Unsurprisingly, all store types increased but the biggest growth area was in supermarkets, with more than 1,200 new grocery outlets selling games.

This news gives further strength to the notion that physical games have a long way to go before they’re completely killed off by digital. Long live the circular piece of plastic!
